Bridges Engineers - Various Levels - Glasgow/ Edinburgh/ York
To help with the continued growth of the bridges team, MHB Consultants are looking to appoint Bridges Engineers at various levels from Graduate to Senior Engineer. The successful candidate(s) will become part of a dynamic and forward-thinking business that aims to develop practical solutions to save money for our clients.

The ideal candidate(s):
The ideal candidate(s) should hold a degree in civil or structural engineering and be looking to develop their technical skills and progress their career.
The job will require dynamic and motivated individuals who are technically capable and good communicators. We are looking for candidates with between 2 and 10 years’ relevant work experience. It would also be beneficial for applicants to have a knowledge of GSA (or similar modelling software), TEDDS, Autocad, general design software and MS Office. Whilst rail experience is an advantage for these roles, we would encourage capable engineers with more general bridges/ structures experience to apply as suitable training will be provided.
The job
The job will principally involve the following tasks.
(For Graduate roles an appreciation of some of the following will be adequate, with a good working knowledge required for the Senior roles):
- Experience working with bridges and design using various materials, e.g. - concrete, steel, timber, masonry
- Preferred but not essential experience working in the rail sector and working on tunnels, stations, buildings or geotechnics.
- Design and/or assessment calculations to Eurocode and Network Rail standards
- Structural analysis and modelling, using software where appropriate
- Production / Review design drawings, technical reports and specifications
- Mentoring graduate/trainee engineers (lead a design team of 2-3)
- Co-ordinate multi-discipline works with design partners / sub-consultants
- Liaison with third party suppliers such as statutory bodies for consents and approvals
- Involvement with project scoping, coordinating design activities, contractual and financial management
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in civil or structural engineering, plus 2-10 years’ experience
- Graduate Engineer for the more junior positions or Chartered Engineer/working towards final review for more senior roles.
- Clean driving licence
