Industrial Placement
The ideal candidate will be on a civil or structural degree having completed either 2nd or 3rd year and looking for a 1 year placement to gain experience in the work place.
The job will require a dynamic and motivated individual who is technically capable as well as a good communicator.
Some relevant work experience would be an advantage but is not essential however a willingness to learn, get involved and help to solve design problems is. It would also be beneficial for applicants to have a knowledge of Autocad, design software and MS Office.
The job will principally involve the following tasks:
∙ Design and/or assessment calculations.
∙ Structural and/or geotechnical analysis and modelling, using computer modelling software where appropriate.
∙ Liaison with third party suppliers such as statutory bodies for consents and approvals. Preparing technical reports.
∙ Experience of some of the following structures - bridges, tunnels, stations & buildings, geotechnical, and design using various materials, eg - concrete, steel, timber, masonry.
