This site consisted mainly of fields adjacent to the West Coast Main Railway Line between Wishaw and Carluke stations. The site, covering an area of approximately 14 acres, is bound by the B7011 in the south and extends for approximately 1km along the railway line and is approximately 360m at it widest point. Studies of the site were produced to aid applications for planning permission for a housing development.
A topo survey was carried out to identify the levels on the site and its extents. The survey area included a section of the B7011, Station Place, Muirhead drive and Station Road to the south and extended approximately 1 km north following the line of the existing railway to Garriongill Junction. To the west the topo survey was taken roughly 300m from railway boundary to cover the open field of the proposed development and its boundaries. To the east, the survey extended roughly 40m from the railway boundary.
