As part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) MHB Consultants were employed by BAM Nuttall to carry out all temporary works design for the removal of the twin railway tunnels and for the construction of the replacement aqueduct which carries the Forth and Clyde canal over the railway at Carmuirs, near Falkirk.

Work included finite element analysis of the existing tunnel prior to demolition, checks on the design of temporary bridges, checks on sheet piling to dewater the canal and design of various scaffolding and falsework structures.

A timelapse video can be seen at the bottom of this page showing the works.
