UB 222/095 Standalane is a rail bridge carrying trains over Standalane Road in Ayrshire on the line between Glasgow and Kilmarnock.

MHB Consultants was commissioned by AMCO Giffen, on behalf of Network Rail, to carry out a structural assessment and design of the required strengthening and refurbishment to the existing bridge.

As part of the works delivery, MHB Consultants undertook a detailed structural inspection and topographical survey before successfully completing the structural assessment.

We then undertook the design of the strengthening and refurbishment of the bridge which included a design of a new FSC approved timber deck, metal work strengthening and a number of condition-led repairs to ensure the ongoing use of the structure.

During implementation we also undertook a number of temporary works designs for the contractor such as developing construction sequences and crane pad designs. MHB also attended the site during the time critical rail possessions to ensure successful delivery of the project.

The project was completed in Autumn 2018 and the before and after photos can be seen below.
