MHB were commissioned  by AMCO to carry out design works on Sandyford Street Railway Bridge near Finnieston in Glasgow. The existing lattice girder structure is over 100 years old and under strength for the current level of rail traffic. In addition the bridge had numerous corroded elements which required repair due to water ingress. The works involved looking at various repair options including replacing the bridge with a new structure, infilling it to render it redundant or repairing and strengthening the existing bridge. Following an options report by MHB, the scheme selected was to repair and strengthen the bridge. Works involved strengthening of the main trusses, various repairs to corroded members, installation of a new timber deck, waterproofing and full repainting. The works were completed early 2016.
