Following vegetation removal of a section of slope behind Dufftown Distillery, the slope suffered from translational slips in certain areas.  The slope was approximately 20m high and 30m long.

MHB Consultants designed stabilisation measures consisting of soil nails embedded in the shallow rock with a flexible facing.

The facing plate details were optimised by undertaking nail pullout tests at an early stage during construction which allowed the Contractor to use smaller size plates.

The project was successfully completed in mid 2018.
