MHB Consultants designed a steel mesh system with a combined role of a drapery rock netting and soil nailing flexible facing to enhance the stability of the overburden soil above bedrock on the Perth-Inverness Highland Main Line at Stalcair. The site is approximately 10 miles South of Dalwhinney.

The site length was approximately 400m with maximum cutting height in the order of 8 – 10m with limited cess clearance.

As shown in the main image above, you can see that the vegetation is beginning to re-establishing itself through the netting with the stability of the cutting now enhanced.

QTS successfully completed the work under a series of line blockages in early 2019.

The photos below show the journey before, during and after.
